How to get rental listings for your app.
Start with the inventory and rights your product needs. Choose a data source only after testing both against real records.
1. Define the product
Write down your locations, property types and required details. Separate must-have fields from optional ones: photos, coordinates, availability and descriptions are not populated on every source.
2. Choose how you’ll source the listings
Compare a licensed listing feed, an eligible MLS/IDX feed or a platform publisher agreement. For internal analysis, also consider property-data APIs and collection tools.
3. Test the exact market you need
Use the exact cities your users will search. Check field completeness, repeated records, timestamps and source links. A national total does not establish local coverage.
4. Agree the use and delivery
Confirm display rights for listings and photos, attribution, storage, update cadence and fees. Ask how additions, changes and removals will reach your system.
5. Integrate and test changes
Map stable IDs and timestamps. Test new listings, changed rents and removals. Do not treat an empty, failed or incomplete query as evidence that all missing listings have been delisted.
